Karnataka coach J Arunkumar has been named Kings XI Punjab’s batting coach for the 2017 IPL season. This will be his maiden coaching stint with an IPL franchise. Arunkumar, 42, said he had been in discussions with Virender Sehwag, Kings XI’s head of cricket operations and strategy, for over a month before his appointment was confirmed.”[The discussions were going on] for over a month before I got a call officially and things fell in place,” Arunkumar told ESPNcricinfo. “I had asked him last year to let me know if there was an opportunity [to do coaching]. So, he called me up and offered this. It was very nice of him.”Apart from Sehwag, a former team-mate at Indian Airlines, Arunkumar will work alongside fielding coach R Sridhar.”We all look for growth and I am looking forward to interact with a lot of other coaches,” Arunkumar said. “It is a good learning curve for me. It is always good to interact with different heads and talk to the players. Sehwag and the franchise team are coming on the 19th for the IPL auctions; we will meet then and discuss the way forward. It is a whole new experience. It will take my coaching to a different level. Indeed, the signing of prolific forwards will be Everton's highest priority this summer, however, finding a worthy partner to join James Tarkowski to form a dream centre-back partnership would be hugely advantageous in their pursuit of competing more comfortably moving forward.

As a result, the signing of Man United skipper Maguire could be exactly what Dyche needs to bring in a player who has a wealth of Premier League experience and the profile to fit perfectly into the former Burnley boss' footballing philosophy.

Despite finding himself largely out of favour this season at Old Trafford, the England ace still ranks in the top 20% of his positional peers across the top five European leagues for aerial duels won, blocks, touches and progressive carries, outlining his ability as a bullish but modern centre-half.

Not only that, Maguire has tallied up an 87% pass completion rate and successfully completed 67% of his dribbles over 16 top-flight appearances this season, as well as averaging 2.6 clearances, 42.4 touches, and winning 2.4 duels, all while only averaging 49 minutes per game.

The 30-year-old misfit may be having a tough time competing for a starting spot under Erik ten Hag but has still drawn high praise from his Dutch coach after his performance in the Europa League a few months ago:

"He's more dominant and dictating, he's taking more initiative on the training pitch and I think also in the Real Betis game, he showed leadership, especially in those aspects of initiative and dictating of the game."

With that being said, it would be a no-brainer for Everton to strike up a deal to sign Maguire this summer, as the centre-back could bring some great assets and match the quality of Tarkowski in the back-line.

Leeds United are unlikely to bring in either Brendan Rodgers or Graham Potter as their new manager this summer, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

The Whites ended up getting through three managers during the 2022/23 season, with Jesse Marsch eventually replaced by Javi Gracia, as his reign got progressively worse.

The Spaniard fared no better, however, and with Leeds spinning towards the Championship under him, Sam Allardyce was brought in to mastermind a recovery act. He didn't have long enough to make his presence felt, however, and he left the club last week after the Whites were relegated from the Premier League.

Those high up at Elland Road are now looking to nail the next managerial appointment this summer, with a number of individuals already linked with the vacant job.

Two of those are Rodgers and Potter, both of whom were sacked by Leicester City and Chelsea respectively earlier in the campaign, but are still considered good British coaches.

Are Rodgers and Potter unlikely to join?

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jacobs admitted that Rodgers and Potter are unlikely to want to head into the Championship, given their current respective statuses in the game:

"We're going to see other candidates linked, like Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers, but I sense these are names that were being discussed when Leeds were still in the Premier League with a chance of safety.

"I think the likes of Rodgers and Potter can get quite big Premier League jobs still. Leeds are a big club, so if they were in the Premier League, maybe in the off-season and with new owners that would have been of appeal. But I would be surprised if Potter or Rodgers personally considered dropping down into the Championship."

In truth, this was always going to be a potential issue for Leeds when it came to finding a top-class new manager, with the Premier League seen as the holy grail, and dropping down to the second tier an understandable backward step in their career.

For that reason, both Rodgers and Potter have always felt a little pie in the sky, and it could be that someone like Steven Gerrard is the best option, with the Liverpool legend having something to prove after an underwhelming spell at Aston Villa.

Meanwhile, former Leeds Under-21s boss Carlos Corberan could also be a strong choice, with the 40-year-old already thriving in the Championship with West Brom, and possibly seeing a return to Elland Road as an exciting avenue to go down.

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Jonathan Tah, who is "pushing" to leave this summer, according to recent reports from Germany.

Tottenham have identified Leeds United's Robin Koch as a potential summer target, with it recently being reported the German could be available for a cut-price fee following his side's relegation from the Premier League.

Given his level of experience playing in Europe, and his proven defensive aptitude, Tah could be a solid signing for Tottenham this summer, particularly considering he will cost just £15.5m, should the release clause be paid before the start of July.

Journalist Dean Jones has suggested that Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood wouldn't be welcome at any other side in English football amid rumours surrounding his future.

What's the latest news involving Mason Greenwood?

The Sun have claimed that Greenwood could be offered a chance to continue his career at Juventus, with the option of a long-term loan deal said to be a possibility by the outlet.

As per the report, the 21-year-old has not played for the club since last year due to allegations of rape and assault, which were dropped earlier this year. Greenwood has been training alone away from Manchester United's Carrington complex, though Juventus, Roma and AC Milan retain an interest in the player.

The Mirror cite that he is still currently suspended by Manchester United as they carry out an internal investigation into affairs. The Red Devils made a statement following the news of his charges being dropped, stating: "Manchester United notes the decision of the Crown Prosecution Service that all charges against Mason Greenwood have been dropped. The club will now conduct its own process before determining next steps. We will not make any further comment until that process is complete."

It isn't thought that Greenwood has any future at Old Trafford and any decision on this will be dealt with by the club directly rather than management staff.

Speaking to Football FanCast, journalist Jones has suggested that Greenwood may go abroad as the 'backlash' over the striker signing for another club in England would be immense.

Jones told FFC: "It would be really interesting if Juve went down this route. I can't see Greenwood being welcomed at any English clubs in the near future and I think there'll be a backlash if anyone was just trying to sign him. So you know, there probably is an element of going abroad that might suit him if that can happen."
